Restaurant Review : THC (The House of Chipotle), OshiwaraComments : 2 Posted in : Restaurant Review on by : Disha Khurana Tags: Andheri, Chipotle, fries, Mexican food, Mumbai, pocket friendly, QSR, Restaurant review, VFM
Mumbai finally gets its fair share of authentic Chipotle thanks to The House of Chipotle (THC). I visited the Andheri, Oshiwara outlet a while back & was so pleased with the food as well as the service.
Mexican food has been around since a while now in Mumbai yet the authentic Chipotle is found rarely & that too in fancy places. However, THC brings original chipotle imported from the US to your plate at really reasonable rates. Call it jugaad or good contacts, these smoky authentic dried chipotle chillies are imported from New York & other parts of the states. These chillies play the role of a star ingredient in their secret chipotle sauce & is available in 3 different variants according to spice levels (Mild, Spicy & Very Spicy). A wholesome meal would cost two of you approximately Rs. 500 & keep you stuffed for a while.
I tried a small portion their Chipotle Fries with the Spicy Chipotle Sauce & since I can handle a good spice level, this was a great dish for me. Crunchy hot fries & creamy chipotle sauce to dip them into on a rainy afternoon, what else could I ask for? Next came the Panini’s, even though I was suggested to try their famous Peanut Butter Chicken Panini, I gave it a miss as I am not a big peanut butter fan. Instead I tried the Chicken Mushroom Panini & this dish is definitely going to take me back for more of it even if it happens to be a take away. Creamy mushrooms, caramelised onions, chipotle chicken, chipotle sauce, crunchy lettuce – all between two toasted panini bread slices; oh my mouth is salivating now! Let me warn you that their panini’s are huge & more than sufficient for one person.
One cannot go to a Mexican place & not try nachos, we settled for the Tex Mex Chicken Chipotle Nachos & THC Chicken Burger. The Tex Mex Nachos are wholesome & so delicious, crispy nachos topped with refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa, sour cream, signature chipotle sauce, lots of cheese & to finish it off a big squeeze of lime. Each bite gives such complex & amazing textures & its instant love with the very 1st piece. The THC Chicken Burger however was pretty average for me. It needed more zing & flavour to lift the dish, without that one can easily skip this.
I definitely could not leave without trying their signature Chipotle Rice Bowl. We tried the chicken one & was mighty pleased. At Rs. 350 this one is definitely a steal specially with the amount of quantity. Coriander Lime Rice, Refried Beans, Sweet Corn, Pico De Gallo, Salsa, Peppers, Guacamole, Chipotle Chicken, lots of cheese are layered in a huge box. It is then topped off with a good amount of Sour Cream & Signature Chipotle Sauce & Salad Leaves. One can either mix it up & eat or have it as it is getting different layers. However, you eat, you are sure to have a party in your mouth due to so many flavours & textures. We ended the with a luscious Caramel Custard & had nothing to complain about.
I had taken a cousin along for the review just because he has a good appetite & would help me not waste food but trust me with their portion sizes, it was a struggle for the both of us. We had some of the Chipotle Rice Bowl & packed the rest. I know for sure that the next time I am around Oshiwara, I am definitely going back for more.
