Any house party is incomplete without some chips & dips. We are a family that loves all kinds of crackers to go with a variety of dips. Most often these dips are mayo or cheese based. Off course we have our Lebanese style dips & I have previously shared my recipe of Garlic Hummus & Hummus done three ways. But as its rightly said, variety is the spice of life; thus I am always trying out different ways of using the same old indigenous ingredients. This recipe of Roti crisps with Green Tomato Salsa is a result of one those random experiments. It is a major hit with my folks including my nani. Roti Crackers with Green Tomato Salsa
Preparation Time – 30 minutes
Cooking Time – 15 minutes
For Roti Crackers
1/4cup whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp amchur (dried mango powder)
1/4 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
For Green Tomato Salsa
60gms green tomato, finely chopped
30gms onion, finely chopped
2-3gms coriander, finely chopped
10gms radish, finely chopped
5ml lime juice
Pinch Kashmiri chili powder
1 small green chilli, finely chopped
Salt (as per recommended)
- Make a medium soft dough using the whole-wheat flour & water & make thin roti’s on a tawa.
- Let it cool & cut into bite sized wedges or whichever shape you desire.
- In a bowl toss the roti pieces with oil, salt, chilli powder & garlic powder & place it in a single layer on a baking tray.
- Bake the roti pieces till they are crsip & golden like crackers in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 10-15minutes
- For the Green Tomato salsa, mix all the ingredients together & serve chilled with Roti Crackers.
